An article in a 1857 issue
Scientific American shows Huey's patented shingle sawing and planing machine. Eighteen years later, a William Huey of Salisbury was granted a patent for a shingle sawing machine. Thirty years after the original patent, a William Huey of Seaford was granted a patent for a combined shaping and sawing machine that was intended for making shingles or barrel staves. Were all these patents granted to the same person? A correspondent confirms that they are all the same man, William Charles Huey.

I purchased an antique advertisement for Susquehanna Planing Mill at auction recently. Trying to verify the William Huey on the advertisement since I couldn't find record of a Susquehanna planing Mill took me down a rabbit hole and I found your site. I can verify that. William Charles Huey That filed patents in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Cambridge, Maryland, Salisbury Maryland and Seaford Delaware are all the same person. Through census records and find a grave websites, I was able to track him and his family. William Charles Huey is buried in Baltimore, Maryland. He is also affiliated with Coulborn & Huey of Seaford Delaware who made baskets for harvesting fruits...
