The firm of Thomson, Sterne & Co. (Limited), who recently acquired large works at Hollinwood, Manchester, have resolved to increase the capital of the company, and alter its designation to “L. Sterne & Co. (Limited)." The new works are intended for the manufacture of gas-engines and feed-water heaters, and the present establishment in Glasgow for the smaller sizes of gas-engines, emery wheels and machines, and spiral-springs, &c. The firms are also opening a showroom at 42 Cannon Street, London, for the purpose of exhibiting their specialties, including a gas-engine, which will drive a dynamo machine for the lighting of the premises. As will be seen from another column, Messrs. Thomson, Sterne & Co. (Limited) are the sole makers of a patent gas-engine, which was awarded a gold medal at the Crystal Palace Electrical Exhibition.
