The patent describes a mechanically simple, physically robust ratchet wrench. The handle is wood. The wrench was supplied by the A.W. Gray's Sons manufacturing company of Middletown Springs, VT. as a tooth replacement wrench for threshing machines.
Known examples are made of malleable iron castings and are marked with part numbers. The side plates are also marked "PAT. MAY 18, 1880 BY A. W. GRAY'S SONS."
The wrench is incorporated in Canadian patent 12,020 which covers the threshing cylinder, concaves and tooth wrench. |
