Mulliner Machine Tool Co. was established in late 1915. Although under-capitalized, they managed to design and start construction of a line of engine lathes in 12-inch and 14-inch sizes. A little more than a year later, in February 1917, The company merged with a related business, Mulliner Enlund Machine Tool Co., Inc., to form the somewhat better captitalized Mulliner-Enlund Tool Co., Inc. In May of 1919, another Syracuse company, Porter-Cable Machine Co., acquired Mulliner-Enlund and consolidated their operations, nearly doubling the size of Porter-Cable's workforce.

The Mulliner Machine Tool Company, Syracuse, N. Y., has been incorporated with a capitalization of $25,000 to manufacture machinery, tools and patented appliances. The Incorporators are R. H. and G. W. Mulliner and J. A Tolishus.

Lathe Firms of Syracuse Consolidate
The Porter-Cable Machine Co., with a large, new plant, five stories high, at Nos. 1708-12 North Salina St., Syracuse, N. Y., has taken over the Mulliner-Enlund Tool Co., of No. 541 South Clinton St., it is announced by the officers of both concerns. This is a consolidation of the only two industries in Syracuse making lathes.
The plant of the Mulliner-Enlund company, manufacturing machinery and other equipment, will be moved to the Porter-Cable Machine works, and G. N. Enlund and R. H. Mulliner will join the enlarged company. Mr. Enlund has been president and Mr. Mulliner, treasurer of the former company.
As a result of the merger the. working force of the Porter-Cable Machine Company will be practically doubled, 150 persons being employed there now, and the Mulliner-Enlund force amounts to 135 persons.
The officers of the Porter-Cable Machine Company are: President, Walter A. Ridings: vice presidents, George G. Porter and Robert Love; treasurer, Frank E. Cable; secretary, Stewart F. Hancock; superintendent, L. J. Schuyler; chief engineer, W. H. Hafermalz.
