From January 1903 American Electrician |
In the late 1890s or early 1900s—definitely by 1903—an electrical repair and contracting shop, Bartz, Evans & Wygant of Hornellsville, NY, began making electric motors. The partnership consisted of Frank Bartz, Charles E. Evans Frederick A. Wygant. In the beginning of 1903 Evans left the firm and was replaced by Alfred E. Brown. The business name changed to Bartz, Wygant & Brown Co., makers of DC motors and benchtop motorized drill presses. This business lasted until 1909 when it was succeeded by A. J. Deer Co.; see that company's history page for more.
