John Gleason, a maker of wheelwrights' machinery, was active from about 1866 through 1880, and perhaps for longer.

  • The 1876 work, Draft-book of Centennial carriages, displayed in Philadelphia, at the International exhibition of 1876, has the following entry: "John Gleason, Philadelphia, Pa., was awarded a medal on his spoke and handle turning-lathes..."
