J. S. Schofield & Son was the proprietor of Schofield's Iron Works, manufactured cotton presses, cane mills, steam
engines, boilers, and general machinery. The company was founded by J. S. Schofield in 1850. By 1866, it was one of Macon’s leading
industries.
Schofield’s eventually merged with another Macon, GA foundry,
Taylor Iron Works, sometime in the 1930's.
