In the 1866 to 1869 era, this partnership of Anton Saur and Albert B. Colton made a sawing machine for cutting up firewood.

  • H. C. Chandler & Co.'s 1868 Business Directory For Indiana lists, under foundries in Franklin, "Saur & Colton, on railroad".
  • Eleventh Annual Report of the Indiana State Board of Agriculture, 1869. At the annual State Fair, "Lauer & Colton [sic], Franklin, Indiana, a convenient device for raising the saw, rolling up the logs, etc., with automatic brake for checking the motion of the saw as it finishes a cut."
