Joseph Crawford, Jr., Co. was manufacturing 15-in. to 25-in. engine lathes in early 1918. The company changed names to Crawford Machine Tool Co., Inc. in June 1918. The plant was in Erie, PA, and the sales agent was at 21 Park Row, New York City. By 1921, the name had changed to Crawford Manufacturing Co. and they were making a direct-drive electric buffer. The plant location was not gaven and the sales office was unchanged. A later example of a pedestal grinder was made by "Crawford Mfg Co. Concord N.H." A 1921 Electrical World mentions "Crawford Manufacturing Co., 13-21 Park Row, New York City, and Concord, N. H." so the New York and Concord companies were one and the same.
