Leeson Electric Corp. was founded by Lee Doerr’s two sons in 1972. They began manufacturing Electric Motors in 1974. In 1985, Leeson acquired Unison Dynamics and in 1988, Leeson purchased Motronics Corporation. They also bought Gear Systems, Inc. in 1995, Sandor Corporation in 1997. In 2000 Leeson was acquired by Regal-Beloit Corp. who had bought Lincoln Electric Corp.'s motor division in 1999. Regal transferred Lincoln to Leeson in 2006.
