This invention is designed to improve valves of a type commonly termed feather valves. In an application filed by me, August 24th, 1923, Serial Number 659,125, (patent #1,515,474) I have improved valves of this type and the present invention relates to an improvement in the method of connecting the feather valve plates to the pivot pin in the construction there disclosed and an improvement in locating the pivot pin so as to make the valve plates properly register with the valve seats.

Claim:
In a valve, the combination of a seat; a resilient feather plate closing the seat; a pivot pin for the feather plate, said pivot pin being notched to receive the feather plate exposing one face of the feather plate; and means of securing the feather plate in the notch, said pin rocking with a flexure of the feather plate in opening and closing the valve.

The invention is particularly directed to the valve construction of compressors. According to the present invention leaf valves are used and are of a type and construction that particularly adapt them for use at the ends of the cylinders giving a very small clearance and a very efficient closure.
Claim:
In a compressor,-the combination of a cylinder; a valve plate on the cylinder having an exhaust port and an inlet passage therethrough; a head on the plate having an inlet port and an outlet passage therethrough; inlet: and exhaust straight-sided leaf valves controlling the ports; coil springs pocketed in the head acting on the exhaust valve; and coil springs extending through the plate and pocketed in the cylinder acting on the inlet valve.

1,700,825 Feb. 05, 1929 Gas Engine Control Mechanism Harry D. Murray Grove City, Mercer County, PA Abstract:
Gas engines, especially such as are used in oil and gas well operations, are so arranged as to be conveniently subjected to manual control for the drilling operation and for automatic control in the use of the engine in pumping the well, or after the drilling is completed. In the present invention a convenient throttle actuating mechanism and speed sensitive mechanism are combined; It is further desirable in .combination with a gas mixer valve to have a bypass of sufficient capacity to keep the engine operating after the throttle valve is closed and the present invention involves a means by which this may be accomplished. The throttle in a gas engine is rather sensitive for starting and usually starts best with a given throttle. The present invention involves a means for indi eating the throttle opening so that it may be nicely adjusted particularly for the purpose of starting and also for running conditions if desired. The invention also involves iinproveinents in the speed sensitive mechanism particularly adapting it to this type of engine and for use in connection with a throttle.
Claim:
In a gas engine control mechanism, the combination with a valve body; and balanced governor valve mounted in the body; a spring tending to open the valve and balancing the same against fuel pressure to relieve the governor of the gas and spring load; and a speed sensitive device operating to close the valve.
1,791,969 Feb. 10, 1931 Gas Engine Harry D. Murray Grove City, Mercer County, PA Abstract:
This invention is designed to improve gas engines. Two cycle engines have been made in which the air for combustion is delivered to the engine and gas for combustion delivered in a separate charge, the gas pressure being sufficient for the injection. Engines have also been made in which the gas and air are drawn into a compressor and delivered as mixture to the engine. The separate injection of gas to the engine is more economical than where the air and gas are delivered together as a mixture and it is, there- ore, desirable to provide engines for normal running with such delivery of fuel. But it is often desirable in the starting of the engine, and under certain conditions, to provide means whereby the engine may have its gas and air delivered together as a mixture.
Claim:
In a gas engine, the combination of a cylinder; a piston in the cylinder; an air delivery means comprising a compressor; a gas supply means; and means controlling the delivery of gas either directly to the cylinder with the gas supply under pressure, or to the air delivery means at the will of the operator.
1,890,051 Dec. 06, 1932 Valve Mechanism Hewitt A. Gehres Mount Vernon, Knox County, OH Abstract:
This invention relates to valve mechanism. The invention is particularly applicable to air valves or the like, and has been found to be specifically advantageous in its adaptation to compressor valve structures.
An object of the invention is to provide a valve in which plates are utilized to close the valve openings and in which the plates are provided with uniform spring pressure having the advantage of distributing the spring pressure to the valve plates substantially uniformly per unit of valve plate area of pressure distribution.
Another object of the invention is to provide a structure in which the valve plates are free from undue and localized wearing.

Claim:
A compressor plate valve having frame means providing a plurality of valve openings and adjacent seats lying substantially in the same plane, a plurality of relatively thin valve plates engageable with said seats to close said openings, a common valve-holding member overlying and bearing against said plates, said member being in the form of an elongated rod extending transversely of the path of movement of the plates and restricted to a path of movement substantially parallel to the movement of said plates, and means urging said member to yieldably hold said plates in closed position.
