449,696 Apr. 07, 1891 Miter-cutting machine Willis J. Perkins Grand Rapids, MI (Information here—and for other universal trimmers—is courtesy of Jeffrey S. McVey.) This universal trimmer was purportedly designed by Joseph A. Oliver, who had briefly worked for Fox Machine Co. Perkins and Oliver formed Grand Rapids Machinery Co. to make this trimmer, but Fox filed suit and Perkins sold his share to Oliver (in 1890).
