We have seen a substantial cast iron grinder arbor with this name cast prominently into it.

  • Thanks to Stephen Dukoff for bringing this maker to our attention. The arbor in question is labeled "E. HOFFMAN MACHINERY SUPPLY / 181 KING ST. TORONTO".
  • A web search turned up a mention of a South Bend lathe with a dealer tag from E. Hoffman Machinery Supply of 181 King Street East, Toronto.
  • The University of Toronto Report of the Board of Governors for the Year Ending 30th June 1943 mentions a vise purchased for the physics building from "E. Hoffman" for $40, plus a drill press purchased from "E. Hoffman Machinery Supply" for $127.70.
  • We could not find any Canadian or American patents that were assigned to this firm, nor could we find any patents granted to an E. Hoffman of Toronto or vicinity.
