In 1903 Donald Sagar was one of the first people to be granted a car registration and a motor drivers licence.
During World War I, the company produced a machine for shaping
propellers.
The business later moved to Canal Works, Water Lane, Halifax.
The Son of Donald Sagar, Joseph Sagar was killed in an Aeroplane Crash in 1922 over France, sadly the Strasbourg to Paris air express crashed into the Gorge de Saverne as he was returning from the motor races in Strasbourg.
In 1954, they were listed as Sagar (Developments) Limited and took over the Firm of Bursgreen who also made woodworking machinery,
The pattern shop and foundry at Canal Works closed in 1958.
