Manufactured Electric Motors
Early in the 20th century, this telephone and telegraph equipment maker made a curious direct motor driven bench lathe that appears to have been more of a "proof of concept" than a serious attempt to build a commercial product.

Information Sources
- The March 1905 issue of Cassier's Magazine has an article on the bench lathe.
- A Western Electric 3-phase induction motor has been seen with a patent date of "July 4, 16". Patents 1,189,458 and 1,189,728 were issued on that date and assigned to Western Electric, but both patents relate to telephony and not motors. There are motor-related patents issued on that date that were assigned to GE and to Westinghouse, so perhaps Western Electric had licensed one of these.
