In 1875, James M. Beugler was granted a scrollsaw patent. The patent is not explicitly assigned. We have word of an 1875 pamphlet for "The twenty dollar scroll saw, manufactured by J. M. Beugler". At least one scrollsaw survives with the name "Young America" on it (plus "Beugler's Pat." and the patent date). This saw was made by J. M. Beugler. - Boyd's Williamsport City Directory for 1898 lists "Beugler Catherine E., wid. James M. h[ouse] 431 Elmira". Also listed was teacher Harriet N. Beugler, boarding at 431 ELmira.
