In 1947 Macair Corp. was making a 14" bandsaw. That year, ads for the bandsaw appeared in issues of Home Craftsman and The Wood-Worker, "Allen E. Dale Sales Corp., National Distributors". The ads only appeared in 1947, so far as we can tell, and today the saws are very uncommon.

Information Sources

  • A search on "Macair", "Hampton Bays" produced no information beyond what is listed below.
  • Ad in the March/April 1947 issue of Home Craftsman, provided to us by Ed Nett.
  • Listed in a 1947 issue of The Wood-Worker, readable in Snippet mode through Google Books.
  • There have been several unrelated businesses of the same name. Florida business registry lists "The Macair Corporation" that was deregistered in 1973. The address is in Miami Springs very near the airport which suggests this was some kind of aviation business unrelated to the Hampton Bay business. There was also a same-named aviation business in Kansas. There are also numerous businesses whose names include "Mac Air" and these all appear to be unrelated.
