This company sold a portable boring machine that was patented in 1881 by Nathan Saunders and manufactured by Atwood Machine Company. We list this boring machine unders "Wells" rather than "Atwood" because the borer was labeled and known as the Wells boring machine.

- The May 1994 newsletter of the Western New York Antique Tool Collectors Association had an article on the Nathan Saunders boring machine. The article says that the Saunders patent timber boring machine was to marketed by Wells Manufacturing Company but was actually manufactured by Atwood Machine Company of Stonington, CT. The article was written by George Little, who died before the article went to press.
