The Wood Bros. Steel Self Feeder Co. was founded in 1899 by F. J. & R. L. Wood. They had originally started about 1893, manufacturing Harvesting Machinery in Rushford, MN. The firm was reorganized in 1911 as the Wood Bros. Thresher Co. In 1955 the firm was sold to the Ford Motor Co. and became their Des Moines Implement Plant.
