The A. Hasselquist & Co. was founded in 1901 by Albert A. Hasselquist, reorganized as the Elgin Tool Works in 1904, and incorporated in 1906. According to Tony Griffith, the company was taken over by Hardinge Brothers at the beginning of the Great Depression, who moved Elgin operations to Chicago and revised the product line to mirror Hardinge's Cataract line. By 1941, the name was Elgin Tool Works Division, Hardinge Manufacturing Co. Please contact us with any additional information.
