Founded in the 1890's by James B. Hill, the firm was sold to the Van Buren, Heck & Marvin Co. and moved the Findlay, OH in 1902. The company was the largest tile ditching and construction trenching company in the U. S. About 700 Steam Traction Engine Ditchers were built between 1902 and 1910 after which they switched to gasoline and diesel fueled models. About 2,000 of these were sold, mostly in Ohio and southern Ontario.
