Stone Breaker and Ore Crusher
|
Philetus W. Gates |
Chicago, Cook County, IL |
Abstract:
This invention relates to that class of stone- breakers and ore-crushers which have a flaring hopper or conical concave and all upright shaft carrying a conical crusher-head near its upper or fulcrum end, said shaft and crusher being gyrated and revolved by means of a revolving eccentric, to which the shaft is connected loosely by its lower end, motion being imparted to the eccentric by gearing, one wheel of which is rigidly fastened to it below the crusher-bead and concave, and isolated by a dust-collar and an inclined diaphragm or laterally discharging partition of the frame of the stone-breaker.
Claim:
The combination of a gyratory shaft provided with main and auxiliary crushing-surfaces and a hopper provided with reversely-tapered crushing-surfaces, the respective sets of opposing crushing-surfaces being together adapted for breaking stone or other substances into fine pieces, while the lower of said sets is adapted to be moved entirely out of operative relation, and the upper set to be used alone for breaking the stone or other substances into coarser pieces. |

Rock or Ore Breaker
|

Chicago, Cook County, IL |
In 1901, Gates Iron Works was merged with other firms to form Allis-Chalmers Mfg. Co.
Abstract:
The object of our invention is to provide a simple, economical, and efficient rock and ore breaker.
Claim:
In a rock and ore breaker, the combination of a frame or base portion provided with an upper encircling portion, an annular-shell is portion provided with crushing -concaves inserted within the upper encircling portion and having its upper portion projecting above the same, means for securing the upper encircling portion and the annular shell together, a spider portion encircling the upper portion of the annular shell, and means for securing it to the annular shell, substantially as described. In a rock and ore breaker, the combination of a lower frame or base portion provided with an upper circular portion split longitudinally, an annular-shell portion provided with crushing-concaves inserted within the circular portion and having its upper portion projecting above the same, bolt mechanism for clamping the upper circular portion and annular shell together, a spider portion split longitudinally encircling the upper part of the annular shell, and bolt mechanism for clamping the spider portion to the annular shell.

Abstract:
In the art to which this invention relates it is well known that the frame portion of the crusher consists generally of a lower portion, an upper shell portion that contains and holds the crushing-concaves, and a spider portion, and that the crushing-concaves always wear out at the lower portion thereof, so that when such lower portion is worn the concaves have to be thrown away. Our invention is intended, therefore, to obviate these objections and provide a crushing-frame of practically two parts, in which the shell is positioned by the clamping together of the spider and main frame, and the shell and its crushing-concaves may be inverted, so that its upper and lower portions may be presented as the working surfaces in order to compensate for the wear.
Claim:
In a rock and ore breaker, the combination of a main body or frame portion, an annular frame or shell removably and reversibly secured in the main body portion, and crushing-concaves removably secured in the annular shell. |
