Boyar Schultz Corp. was organized in 1928 by Harry Boyar and Albert Schultz to manufacture grinding machinery and tooling. Within a few years the business had grown considerably and they were manufacturing surface grinders and tool and cutter grinders among other products. In 1968 the business was acquired and became the Boyar-Schultz Division of Esterline Corp. During the 2000s the tooling line changed hands and is now manufactured by the Boyar-Schultz SMT, a division of Lester Detterbeck Enterprises.
In 1956 Boyar-Schultz was located at 2,000 South 25th Avenue, Broadview, IL. In 1973 the address was 702 South Main Street, Rockford, IL.
We have seen a report that the Spanish-made Ingar model RT-70 surface grinder is nearly identical to a Boyar-Schultz 612 Challenger. We do not know whether this was a licensed copy but the resemblance is close enough that documentation for the Boyar-Schultz machine can be used with the Ingar.
