In 1913 Gooley & Edlundof Syracuse were making the small but heavy "Briggs" horizontal milling machine. By 1916 they had moved to Cortland. A 1919 ad shows the machine in use for squaring die blocks.
As of 1941, Edlund Machinery Co., Inc. was manufacturing drills in Cortland.
