123 Mott Street, New York, NY

Founded in 1893 by August Mietz, the firm reorganized in 1894 as the Mietz & Weiss Engine Co. with the partnership of Carl W. Weiss.Shortly after the company was formed, they changed their name to August Mietz. This firm apparently broke up after August Mietz's death in 1915. Mietz's daughter, Emma Rueff continued the business after Carl Weiss left to form his own company and got into a patent infringement dispute with his old company. In 1922 a new business was established and named the Mietz Oil Engine Co. It only lasted about 8 months until February 1914 when the August Mietz Corp. fell under direct control of the Charter Gas Engine Co.
