Shipman Engine Manufacturing Co. seems to have superseded the Shipman Engine Co., which was active around 1890 to 1894; we suspect that that firm superseded A. H. Shipman.

By early 1898 Shipman Engine Manufacturing Company was in receivership but still operating. That did not seem to last long, as we can find no information on the company's operations after that time.

The two iterations of this company made a small steam engine intended for driving a sewing machine, lathe, or other small machine. They apparently also continued production of the "Demas" scrollsaws from A. H. Shipman.
