Founded as the Phoenix Foundry in 1842 by Cornelius H. Delamater and Petter Hogg.
In 1842 Delamater bought out Hogg and was the sole owner under he took George H. Robinson as partner in 1873.
Manufactured Steam Engines and during the U. S. Civil War, built the engine incorporated into the iron clad warship, Monitior for the Union Navy.
