Dreses, Mueller & Co. was founded in 1895 by Henry Dreses, Oscar W. Mueller, William Gilbert and Charles Lange. Dreses and Mueller were formerly employed by Lodge & Davis Machine Tool Co.

Advertisement from August 1899 "Machinery"

In 1902, Mueller sold out and went on to found the Mueller Machine Tool Co. Dreses and Gilbert reorganized the company and changed the name to Dreses Machine Tool Co. In 1923 Dreses retired and was bought out by Gilbert. In 1940 the name was changed to the Cincinnati Gilbert Machine Tool Co., focusing on boring and drilling machines, particularly horizontal boring mills. The company remains in business today.

    ...Henry Dreses and Oscar Mueller left to form Dreses, Mueller in 1896 in partnership with William Gilbert. A few years later, Dreses and Gilbert bought out Mueller, and, when Dreses retired in 1923, Gilbert bought him out, finally changing the company name to Cincinnati Gilbert in 1940.
