An article in the Railroad Gazette of 1907 shows a picture of a single cylinder, vertical type Lazier gas engine. The engine was intended to be simple in design. The valves were mechanically operated and were actuated from the outside. This made it possible to make repairs and inspection easy. The cams, cam shaft, and spiral gears ran in an oil bath. The four gears of this type ran almost noiselessly. Double ignition was provided, so arranged that the two systems may be used singly or in combination, and so that the operator could vary the time of firing I the charge at will while the engine is running. The engines were furnished with automatic self-starters.
