This maker of sawmill dogs is known from patent records. He appears to have been active from about 1830 to 1840.

- See the "Patents" tab for information on his patents. They show, for example, that he seemed to move around a fair amount. There is one Canadian patent that shows him as residing in Kingston, Ontario (Upper Canada at the time). That was very likely a fiction to evade the restriction that Canadian patents in that era were only issued to residents. We have seen several examples of patents issued to Americans who could not possibly have resided in Canada for more than a few weeks.
