We have seen a very large wood lathe outfitted with a gear box from this firm. Beginning in 1932 and continuing into the '50s, Turner Machinery Co. advertised their "Uni-Drive" to be retrofitted to older lathes that were originally built for line-shaft power.

We learned of this maker in a posting to an owwm.org forum.
A page on the "Jeff's Old Iron Workshop" site gives a bit of history of the Turner Uni-Drive and shows one fitted to a 1915 Hendey 16" tie-bar lathe. Jeff's page provided the 1932 date for the introduction of the Uni-Drive lathe retrofit kit.
