This business was created in the mid-1950s by Lynn H. Sprunger, who left family company Sprunger Brothers, Inc.; Lynn had been the president of Sprunger Brothers, but left following a dispute with his brother, Harry. Lynn Engineering seems to have been in business for twenty years or so.

Information Sources

  • The Smithsonian Library lists seven catalogs from this maker: "Trade catalogs on metal cutting band saws and accessories, drill presses and accessories, grinders and sanders and accessories, and minibug fun cycles".
  • Via email from from Brian Kachadurian: "Lynn split off from Sprunger Brothers to form Lynn Engineering, after a dispute with Harry over the dual metal band saw (model CS-800). (The dual metal band saw was basically a horizontal metal machine which could be converted to vertical and included an operating grinding wheel for deburring.)" Brian's information source was likely a history of Sprunger Brothers written by co-founder Ernest Fahlsing.
  • Article in November 1959 Popular Science on a two-way (horizontal and vertical) metal-cutting bandsaw.
