This company was primarily a manufacturer of woodworking cutters, but the also made spindle carving machines. The were established in 1897, according to one of their ads, and they remain in business today (see link to their website, above).

Ad from December 1921 "Furniture Worker".

Information Sources

  • Robert Bernstein brought this maker to our attention, reporting a double-spindle balloon sander that had been converted from a spindle carver.
  • From the February 1908 issue of Wood Craft:
A substantial card of generous dimensions bears illustrations of the solid shaper and sticker cutters made by the Anthe Machine Works, Covington, Ky. The views are numbered and thus there is permitted a ready reference to representative forms when ordering any of the various standard shapes. The card has full directions for specifying and obtaining the correct cutters, no matter whether they are regular or of special forms. This large card is intended for hanging in the carving room where it will save time and fuss.
