In 1870, Sellew, Adams & Co. purchased the Gowanda Agricultural Works from Sellew & Popple, the latter firm maintaining their ownership of the Dunkirk Iron Works and continuing to build their Wood's Mower; the remaining product line, including plows, Totman's Combined Horse Power and Sawing Machine, plus various other agricultural machines, were manufactured by Sellew, Adams & Co. in Gowanda.
