Willhoit Engineering Corp. was established in 1941 as a wartime designer and manufacturer. In the post-war period they made a 12.5" bandsaw that looks to have been based on pre-war designs. In nearly twenty years we have had only a couple of reports of surviving examples, and we have not yet found any articles or ads for it except for a Smithsonian library listing for a catalog.

More-or-less the same saw was also sold under the Pabst Machine Tools and Gladback Machine Tools names. The relationship between companies is not known.

Information Sources

  • We found one patent assigned to this company: a 1945 patent for a fire extinguisher for incendiary bombs. See the Patents tab.
  • 1948-05-20 Long Beach Independent. "How to use Ansul Dugas dry chemical fire extinguishers and the Willhoit fog nozzle in fighting petroleum fires was demonstrated by the Willhoit Engineering Co. yesterday on Terminal island. It took only 10 seconds to extinguish a fire in this five by six foot pan filled with gasoline and diesel fuel. The Willhoit company is local distributor for Ansul products."
  • The State of California corporate database shows that Willhoit Engineering Corp. was registered 1941-08-06.
