This business was founded in 1894 by Charles and Clayton Strickland. They built boilers, steam engines, and smoke stacks. They reportedly also made sawmills ca. 1900.

Information Sources

  • The Winter 2000 issue of Perspectives Magazine from The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama says, "The Strickland brothers, Charles and Clayton, were building boilers, engines, smoke stacks and repairing GM&O locomotives at the factory they founded in 1894."
  • An email correspondent brought this maker to our attention and reported that they made sawmills.
  • A patent search came up completely dry. No person or business named Strickland ever received a sawmill-related patent, nor were any patents of any kind granted or assigned to anyone named Strickland from Tuscaloosa.
