From about 1882 through to 1900, Harvey A. Moyer manufactured and sold a patented hub-boring machine. It seems that Mr. Moyer was a carriage-maker who designed a new hub borer for his own use and then started manufacturing it as a sideline.

In about 1903 Moyer and a partner, Emmit G. Latta, began working on a typewriter design. Given the resources they invested in evolving and patenting their design, it is likely that they manufactured this machine, but apparently none are known to survive; it is unknown what name was used on these typewriters. For about a year starting in 1916 or 1917 this machine was manufactured and sold by Blickensderfer Manufacturing Co., of Stamford, CT, as their "Blick-Bar" model.

  • Harvey A. Moyer was granted an 1882 patent for a hub-boring machine. This machine was seen in an 1887 catalog for C. F. Pettingell. He received 1892 and 1896 patents for improvements to his original design.
  • Harvey received over forty patents between 1882 and 1914. The early patents were mostly related to carriages and wagons, and the later patents were all related to typewriters.
  • A web page by Bill Davis on the Blick-Bar typewriter provided the manufacturing information on Moyer's typewriters.
  • Listed as a maker of hub boring machines in the 1889 edition of the Farm Implement News Buyers Guide.
