Beginning in the mid-1950s and continuing for decades, the Matheu Tool Works made the "Beltmaster" narrow-belt sander.

- An eBay auction shows shows a sander that uses 2" by 130" belts. The only part of the belt not enclosed by guards is a portion of a 12" diameter pulley-wheel. The machine is labeled, "BELTMASTER / Matheu Tool Works / 2426 N. Clybourn Av. / Chicago, Illinois". The machine is clearly meant for metalworking.
