This company was established 1912 and is still in business. The name is variously Hebert Manufacturing Co. or Hebert Foundry & Machine Inc.

In the 1950s this company made a patented planer-molder similar in concept to the better-known Williams & Hussey planer-molder. The foundry had fires in 1961 and 1963, and the casting patterns for the planer-molder were lost in the fire. After the 1963 fire the business relocated from Franklin to Laconia, reopening in 1964. They now operate as an aluminum and brass foundry.

Information Sources

  • Thanks to John Orvis for bringing this maker to our attention. John learned of the company when reading ephemera provided by Bruce Johnson.
  • The company website provided the founding date.
  • An email through the company website was reciprocated with information on the fires and their current operations. Of the planer-molder, "All that is left is a copy of the 1956 brochure".
  • A search from 1920 onwards failed to turn up any patents assigned to this company.
  • A planer is labeled "Mfg. by / Eastman Foundry & Machine Co. Inc. / Laconia N. H. U. S. A. / Division of / Hebert Mfg. Co. Est. 1912 / Hebert Moulder-Planer".
