Carsley made a cordwood saw, perhaps ca. 1900.
Information Sources
- OWWMer John Henry brought this maker to our attention in a posting to the OWWM forum.
- A patent search revealed a pair of 1850s patents to a Hiram Carsley: an 1855 patent for a nutmeg grater and an 1857 patent for a stove-cover stand. A Google search revealed at least a couple of different with that name, and it is is probable that the patent is to an earlier Hiram Carsley than the maker of the saw.
- On 1875-07-27 a trademark was issued to Hiram Carsley of Lynn, Mass., for "Broom and tool holders". The application was filed 1875-06-30. The mark showed "a female figure, represented as holding a broom and emerging from a doorway."
