- Thanks to Don Rogers for first bringing this lathe to our attention. Don sent us pictures of a lathe labeled, "A. F. HENSHAW / MAKER / WORCESTER, MASS."
- The Worcester Directory for 1869 lists "Henshaw A. F. machinist tools, Merrifield's building, h[ome] W Boylston, Northville". He is also listed under "Machinists", with the address given as 51 Exchange. There is a listing for "Packard Wm. A. machinist at A. F. Henshaw's, Exchange, h[ome] 1 Main".
- Listed in the 1874 book, Wiley's American iron trade manual of the leading iron industries of the United States: "A. F. Henshaw & Co. / Machinery and machine tools".
- The 1917 book, Industrial Worcester, by Charles Grenfill Washburn, lists the tenants of Merrifield's building, including this: "A. F. Henshaw manufactured machinists' tools and bonnet machinery."
- A patent search failed to turn up anything related to this firm, or to anyone named Henshaw from around Worcester.
- A web search came up dry.
