This company is known to have been in business in 1889, when they manufactured a tablesaw with a maple top and a frame made of steel pipe and what appear to be plumbing fittings.

There was an Ulrich Manufacturing Co. based in Roanoke, IL, known to have been in business in the 1940s through to the 1960s (and perhaps for longer); they made earth-moving equipment and were granted several patents, including some to a Raymond M. Ulrich. We do not know if there is any connection between these two Illinois companies of the same name.

Information Sources

  • Ad and article in the May 1889 issue of "The Wood-Worker", both featuring this company's tablesaw with steel-tube frame and maple top.
  • A web search only produced hits related to the Roanoke company. We found nothing in the Cornell "Making of America" archives or the University of Michigan "Making of America" archives. A patent search produced several patents assigned to the Roanoke company, but none were found that related to the Rock Falls company.
