- Thanks to correspondent James Tomalonis for bringing this maker to our attention.
- From Sidney Daily News: "Shareholding of the Whipp Machine Tool Co., Formerly the Sidney Power Press Co., have elected the following officers and directors. W. E. Whipp (general manager of Monarch Machine) president, W.C. Horr, secretary, P.C.Pocock, treasure; directors, I.H. Thedieck (founder and president of Monarch Machine), L.M Studevant, A.J. Hess and Val Lee."
- Sidney businessman Ignatius H. Thedieck was president of both this company and (beginning in 1909) Monarch Machine Tool Co., and it is quite possible that Whipp Machine Tool was merged into Monarch. In 1912 Thedieck's son-in-law was appointed general manager of Monarch; the son-in-law's name was Wendell Whipp. Whipp became president of the company in 1931, and remained its president until his retirement in 1947.
- Information on Thedieck and Wendell Whipp is from an article by Rich Wallace that is available online courtesy of the Shelby County Historical Society.
