This maker of lath and barrel machinery is known to have been active in 1889, but was likely in business for many years before that.

  • Charles Learned of Indianapolis was co-assigned an 1856 patent for a lath machine, and was granted an 1866 patent for a lath machine.
  • We found some early patents that might be relevant. An 1838 patent (number 694) for a brick-making machine was granted to a Charles Learned of Charleston, SC. An 1842 patent (number 2,831) for a hemp and flax brake was granted to a Charles Learned of St. Louis, MO. An 1848 patent for a washing machine (number 5,802) was granted to Charles Learned of Indianapolis.
