- We have found three patents that were explicitly assigned to this company. They date from 1887 and were granted to Josiah J. Philbrick of Mobile/Birmingham, AL. An 1888 patent to the same inventor was assigned to Geo. Challoner's Sons, another maker of barrel machinery.
- The Directory of Chattanooga, Tennessee 1892, by Connelly & Fais and available online at a genealogy site, lists this company, and says that it was founded in 1886. While there is a tiny chance there were two unrelated companies named Blount Stave Machine Co., they would have to have been founded at almost the same time, and that seems highly unlikely.
