In 1872, Murray Bacon was manufacturing foot lathes and power lathes, probably intended primarily for metal-working.

  • According to the 1868-08-26 issue of Scientific American, Murray Bacon had just graduated from the Polytechnic College of Pennsylvania with a degree in mechanical engineering. His thesis topic was on lubricants.
