Sharpening machinery maker Samuel C. Rogers & Co. was established by Hamilton, Ontario native Samuel Coleman Rgers after he moved to Buffalo in about 1887. He probably began manufacturing while he was still in Canada, but we do not have any confirmation of that. It appears that the business was active from 1887 until the mid-20th century.

Information Sources
- Thanks to Jeff Behan for bringing this maker to our attention: Jeff reported a straight-knife grinder with an 1893 patent date.
- Dave Hogan sent us information on his S. C. Rogers circular-saw grinding and gumming machine, including an 1886-03-30 patent date. The matching patent revealed that Rogers was a Canadian who moved to to Buffalo, NY sometime between 1886 and 1893.
- Seen on eBay: a patented bread slicer made by this company. The patent date is 1900-10-16, and was not assigned to Rogers.
- A web search shows that this company survived well into the twentieth century. For example, a banding press with a welded steel frame is labeled, "Samuel C. Rogers and Co., 183205 Dutton Avenue, Buffalo 11, N.Y., U.S.A.". An enormous knife grinder (capacity: knives up to 10x160 inches) looks to be circa 1960.
- From the brass plaque on a tool grinder: "Samuel C. Rogers & Co., Inc. / Buffalo, N. Y. / Established 1887 / Saw & Knife Fitting Machinery".
