The 1868-10-14 issue of Scientific American carried a notice from the Commissioner of Patents that inventor Sawyer had applied for an extension to this patent. The 1869-01-30 issue carried a notice that the extension had been granted. According to the 1873 "Subject-matter index of patents for inventions issued by the United States Patent Office", this patent was granted an additional extension on 1867-03-02 by act of Congress. |
