Alexander Farnham's book, Early tools of New Jersey and the men who made them, lists Edward O. Chase as a maker in the 1870s and 1880s "who made various woodworking machinery, including scroll and circular saws, which in combination with lathes were sold as 3-in-one tools." The book has a full-page photo of a lovely E. O. Chase combination machine.
