This firm was founded in about 1875 and lasted at least a century. They made a wide variety of metal products, including box-making machines and a tablesaw.

  • Jon Zimmer's antique tool web site featured a "Bull Dog Nail Puller" from this maker. Two patent dates were given, and those patents are listed under the Patents tab.
  • The University of New Mexico Library web site lists correspondence for Albuquerque & Cerrillos Coal Company, including 1924-1926 correspondence with L. F. Grammes & Sons.

  • The Grammes family genealogy site has this entry: "Lewis F. Grammes was born January 30, 1845 in Heidelberg Twp, Lehigh County, PA. He married Eliza Jane Weber the daughter of George Weber and Elizabeth Gantzhorne. She was born December 03, 1851 and died December 14, 1923 in Allentown, Lehigh County, PA. Lewis and Eliza had the following children: Harry A.; Charles William; J. Frank; Elizabeth Marguerite; Lewis G.; Allen Grover and Hellen S.. Lewis established the company of L.F. Grammes & Sons in Allentown which employed many of the Allentown area residents until the late 1960's. Lewis died April 26, 1911 in Allentown, Lehigh County, PA. Lewis & Eliza are buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Allentown, Lehigh County, PA."
